Our research focuses on (1) rapid screening of nature enzymes that fulfil the requirement of industrial synthesis by combining both sequence and functional screening strategies; (2) enhancement of the catalytic properties of the natural enzymes via molecular modification methods based on protein structure-activity relationship; (3) development of economic biological manufacturing route to accelerate the industrialization producing of the new enzymes that could promote the sustainable development of medicine and chemical industry.

In the recent five years, our lab have successfully applied more than 20 national projects, including three “National Basic Research Project of China” (973) projects, four “National High-Tech Research of China” (863) projects, one “National Science and Technology Major Project”, six “Natural Science Foundation of China” (NFSC) projects, five enterprise project. The total funds is nearly 15 million yuan. Amount of unique and innovative researches have been performed aim at the independent obtain of new biocatalyst, artificial regulation of biological catalytic selectivity, biocatalysis reaction engineering. Up to 100 students have graduated from the lab, and there are more than 30 students now, including 10 Ph.D. student.
