RESEARCH INTERESTS
I was interested in using systems biology strategies to investigate the pathogenesis of bacterial pathogens, such as Vibrio alginolyticus and Edwardsiella tarda causing huge economic losses towards marine aquaculture industry in China. Biochemistry isolation, Transposon-based mutant library, Tn-based defined library as well as genomics and proteomics were carried out to define the virulence factors. Further their regulation mechanisms (network) were investigated in the light of the host and environmental-adaptation processes. The key regulation elements or virulence factors will be used to provide the molecule elements for design of novel vaccines.
UNDERWAY PROJECTS:
1. Investigation of type III and IV secretion systems (TTSS and T6SS) as well as their regulation in Edwardsiella tarda.
2. Construction of a defined mutant library for Edwardsiella tarda.
3. Dissection of the regulon of two-component system EsrAB in Edwardsiella tarda using RNA-seq and ChIP-seq technologies.
TEACHING
1. Bioinformatics, 32 h/semester, Biotechnology undergraduate students.
2. Micbrobial cellular signaling and transduction, 32 h/semester, PhD students.
