Dr. Cui Zhanfeng visited SKLBE
On July 29-30, Royal Academy of Engineering, Professor at University of Oxford, Zhanfeng Cui visited State Key Laboratory of Bioreactor Engineering. During his visit, Professor Cui made a presentation entitled "Research, Innovation and Entrepreneurship". And together with Professor Cui, Associate Professors Hua Ye and Wei Huang (Department of Engineering Sciences, Oxford University) made a presentation entitled "Tissue Engineering from an engineer's perspective" and "Engineering simple cells and its potential to synthetic biology", respectively. Dean of College of Bioengineering, Professor Yingping Zhuang presided over the lecture.
Dr. Zhanfeng Cui, Donald Pollock Professor, the Royal Academy of Engineering, Professor at Department of Engineering Science at Oxford University, Director of the Tissue Engineering and Bioprocessing Research Center. Dr. Cui obtained his master's degree in 1984, and his doctorate in 1987. He continuted to do postdoctoral research at University of Strathclyde. From 1991 to 1994 he worked at the University of Edinburgh and in 1994 he became a lecturer at Oxford University. In 2000, Dr. Cui became the first Chinese professor at Oxford University, he is also one of the youngest professors at that time. In March 2005, he became the first Distinguished Changjiang Professor in Dalian University of Technology. In 2009, Dr. Cui was awarded Doctor of Science (DSc) again by Oxford University. In 2013, he was elected to be the Royal Academy of Engineering. He won the Royal Academy of Engineering "Foresee Award" and the Royal Academy of Engineering "UK Young College Teacher Award".
