Prof. Qiang Fei visited SKLBE

On September 5, Professor Qiang Fei at Xi'an Jiaotong University was invited to visit SKLBE. Prof. Fei made a presentation entitled "Biotransformation of low-value biomass to produce biofuels". Prof. Fei introduced the anaerobic fermentation to obtain short chain fatty acids and therefore bio-diesel, the use of lignocellulosic sugars to produce oil and biotransformation of greenhouse gases to produce green diesel and chemical products. By building advanced biological transformation platform and the use of cutting-edge bioengineering technology, combining with the application of modern cell factories, it is possible to efficiently convert renewable resources to obtain high value-added, low-cost, low-carbon and sustainable products (chemicals, pharmaceutical intermediates, feeds, etc.).
